Best Hotels in Srinagar: Our Top 10, Best Areas and Real Prices (2026-27)

This is our ranked guide to hotels in Srinagar for the 2026-27 winter: the ten we would shortlist first, who each one suits, which area to stay in, what a night costs in October, November and December, and how we arrived at the list. Our top 10 hotels in Srinagar

These are the ten hotels we would shortlist first, out of 205 Srinagar hotels we found with at least 300 Google reviews. They are ranked by Google rating, adjusted for how many reviews the rating rests on, with a little extra weight for being close to Dal Gate, where Dal Lake, Boulevard Road and the city meet.

In short: how this list is made. We searched Google Hotels for every Srinagar stay we could find, kept the ones with a real address, at least 300 reviews and a rate we could find online, and ranked them with one rule applied to all. We price one fixed night, Tuesday 15 December 2026, so every hotel is compared like for like. A high Google rating shows that guests were happy; it does not measure luxury, so use the picks below to match a hotel to your budget. Two of the ten show a perfect 5.0; a perfect score is rare, so read the recent reviews yourself before you book. The full method is at the end of this page.

Which Srinagar hotel should you book?

Pick by what matters to you. Each pick below follows a simple rule, stated beside it, so you can see why it is there.

• For luxury: Radisson Collection Hotel & Spa, Riverfront. The best rated of the 5 hotels listed as 5-star, 4.8 from 1,346 reviews, from ₹24,426. Rule: highest listed star class, then rating.
• Best value in the top 10: Hotel Royal Plaza. The lowest December rate among our top 10, from ₹1,885, rated 4.7 from 1,480 reviews. Rule: cheapest of the ten.
• Mid-range: The Dewan by Royal Naqash. Rated 4.8 from 4,153 reviews, in Shalimar, from ₹4,196. Rule: best rated between ₹4,000 and ₹8,000 a night.
• On a budget: The Stay Villa. Rated 4.8 from 5,190 reviews, in Lal Chowk, from ₹1,922. Rule: best rated under ₹2,000 a night.
• By Dal Lake: Hotel Green Rooms. Rated 4.8 from 3,385 reviews, 0.6 km from Dal Gate, from ₹3,865. Rule: best rated on the Dal Lake side with a December rate, not already picked above.
• In the city centre: Hotel Shady Oaks. Rated 4.9 from 982 reviews, in the old city, from ₹3,285. Rule: best rated in the city centre (Rajbagh, Lal Chowk and the old city) with a December rate, not already picked above.

Which area to stay in Srinagar

For a first visit, stay by Dal Lake or in Rajbagh. A hotel on Boulevard Road gives you the lake at your door; Rajbagh is central and near the cafes; both make early starts easier. Srinagar stays fall into four areas.

Houseboat or hotel?

Stay at least one night on a houseboat; it is the experience Srinagar is known for. J&K Tourism grades licensed houseboats after inspection into Deluxe, A, B and C categories, and the category tells you more about comfort than the photos do. For the rest of the trip, a hotel makes early starts easier, and in deep winter a heated hotel room is the simpler choice.

Many listings are groups that own several boats of different grades, so ask which boat and which category you are booking, and whether the rate includes the shikara crossing.

Srinagar hotel prices in October, November and December

Srinagar hotels cost less in October than in December: for a typical hotel, the October night was about 8% cheaper. We checked the same hotels for one Tuesday night in each month, all on 30 September 2026. Of the 214 Srinagar hotels we track, 108 showed a rate for all three nights.

Spring is the expensive season. For Tuesday 6 April 2027, in tulip season, 43 of the same hotels already showed a rate: the middle rate was ₹5,993 against ₹5,100 for 15 December, and 33 of the 43 cost more in April, typically by about 23%.

"No rate" means no booking site showed a public rate for that night when we checked. It does not always mean the hotel is full or closed; some hotels sell rooms only by phone or through their own site.

Why we price 15 December: it is a normal winter night, a Tuesday before Christmas week and just before Chillai Kalan, the 40 coldest days, begins on 21 December. Winter is the quiet season in the city; spring, when the Tulip Garden opens, is the busiest and most expensive. Using one night for every hotel is what makes the prices comparable.

When to book, and what waiting costs

Book early for Christmas, New Year and spring, and choose a rate with free cancellation where you can. The prices on this page are what you pay if you plan ahead.

• New Year fills up: on 27 December 2025 the news agency IANS reported that hotels in Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam were at full occupancy for the New Year.
• Christmas week: of the 113 hotels that showed a rate for both nights, 38 were already more expensive for 26 December than for 15 December when we checked on 30 September 2026, typically by about 15%. Three were cheaper. The rest had not changed their Christmas prices.
• Rates move: these are the lowest rates on one day. Booking sites change them often, so treat each as a starting point and check the link beside it for today's rate.

We re-check these rates through the season and keep the earlier figures, so each table will show what the same night cost when it was checked before.

Hotels near Dal Lake and Boulevard Road

Boulevard Road runs along the lake from Dal Gate towards Nishat, with the shikara ghats on one side and hotels on the other. Dalgate and Munawarabad, just behind it, are cheaper and a short walk from the water. We found 58 hotels here with at least 300 reviews; these are the 10 best rated outside our top 10.

Hotels in Rajbagh, Lal Chowk and the city centre

Rajbagh is a leafy residential area by the Jhelum, close to Zero Bridge and its cafes. Lal Chowk is the commercial centre, next to the Polo View market. Both are about 2 km from Dal Gate. We found 80 hotels here with at least 300 reviews; these are the 10 best rated outside our top 10.

Hotels near Nishat, Shalimar and Nigeen Lake

The north side of the lake is quieter: the Mughal gardens at Nishat and Shalimar, Hazratbal, and Nigeen Lake, which is joined to Dal by a narrow channel. It suits a slower stay, and you will want a cab for the city.

Hotels near Srinagar airport

Hotels along Airport Road, in Hyderpora, Humhama and Barzulla, are for a late arrival or an early flight. They are about 6 to 9 km from Dal Gate in a straight line, so they are a poor base for sightseeing.

Budget hotels in Srinagar

33 of the 205 well-reviewed hotels showed a rate of ₹2,500 or less for 15 December. These are the 10 best rated of them. At this price, ask about heating before anything else.

Star classes below are the ones shown on each hotel's Google listing, so treat them as a guide rather than an official grading.

• 3-star, best rated first: Lee Heritage, De Elaaf The Luxury Stay, Hotel Ash Vale, City Residency, Hotel Vilasta by Heritage, Hotel Valley Orchid, Ikraam Inn, Hotel Star of Kashmir, Walisons Hotel, Opera Inn, Hotel Golden Bees, The Shelter Heritage, Hotel Blossoms, Hotel Pearl Continental.

Many well-reviewed hotels show no star class at all. A missing class says nothing about quality; it only means the listing does not state one.

Hostels in Srinagar

Srinagar has a few backpacker hostels with dorm beds and private rooms. The rate shown is the lowest for two adults, which may be two dorm beds.

JKTDC hotels in Srinagar

The J&K Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC), the government tourism company, lists six properties in Srinagar: Hotel Heemal, Hotel Kongposh, Hotel Lala Rukh, Hotel Kashmir Residency, the Cheshmashahi Resort and the houseboat Four Seasons. It does not show tariffs on its listing page; book and check rates on jktdc.co.in.

What to ask a Srinagar hotel before you book in winter

From November to February, nights in Srinagar fall to around or below freezing, and heating in your room matters more than anything else you book. Listings almost never answer these, so ask by phone or message and keep the reply.

We use the same method and the same dates for hotels in Gulmarg, hotels in Pahalgam and hotels in Sonamarg.

How we find, rank and price these hotels

This section is the full method, so you can judge how far to trust the lists above.

• Where the list comes from: we searched Google Hotels for Srinagar in every way we could think of (by property type, star class and neighbourhood), added the names listed on Booking.com and MakeMyTrip, and then searched around each hotel already found, which brings up its neighbours, until new searches stopped turning up well-reviewed stays.
• What we kept: stays within 22 km of Dal Gate with a real address or website and a rating or a price. We left out whole-house rentals and merged duplicates. We track 240 stays, 224 of them with at least 300 Google reviews: 205 hotels, 15 houseboats, 3 hostels and one government hotel. This page lists 69: the top 10, the best rated in each area, and the luxury, budget, houseboat and hostel lists.
• Ranking: each stay's Google rating is adjusted for its number of reviews: a stay needs about 200 reviews before its own rating counts for more than the Srinagar average of 4.4. The top 10 is drawn from hotels that showed an online rate on at least one of the four nights we checked, so each can be priced and booked from home; well-rated hotels with no online rate are in the area lists. For the top 10, that adjusted rating is 85% of the score and distance to Dal Gate is 15%: full marks within 1 km, a little less up to 2.5 km and 5 km. The other lists are ordered by the adjusted rating alone. Price is never part of a ranking, because it changes daily.
• Price: the lowest public rate any booking site showed on Google Hotels for two adults for one night, taxes included. Member-only and sign-in rates are left out, and so is any "rate" under ₹600, which is a listing error rather than a room. All rates on this page were read on 30 September 2026.
• Distance: a straight line from the hotel's map position to Dal Gate. By road it is further, especially around the lake.
• What we could not check: heating, power backup and hot water. Listings rarely state them, so we do not rank on them; ask the hotel. We have also not stayed in these hotels ourselves, and we say so rather than pretend.
• What the ranking is not: it is not a list of every hotel in Srinagar. It covers the 224 stays we found with at least 300 reviews; Srinagar has many more small hotels below that mark. A stay we never found cannot appear, and a Google rating can be pushed up by a hotel that asks every guest for a review, so read a few recent reviews before you pay.
• Updates: we re-check ratings and rates through the season. Every table shows the date it was last checked, and earlier prices are kept so you can see how a rate has moved.
