Best Hotels in Pahalgam: Our Top 10 and Real Prices (2026-27)

This is our ranked guide to hotels in Pahalgam for the 2026-27 winter: the ten we would shortlist first, who each one suits, what a night costs in October, November and December, and how we arrived at the list. Our top 10 hotels in Pahalgam

These are the ten hotels we would shortlist first. All ten are in Pahalgam itself, within 3.6 km of the taxi stand in the main market, where the union taxis for Aru, Betaab Valley and Chandanwari leave from. They are ranked by Google rating, adjusted for how many reviews the rating rests on, with a little extra weight for being close to the taxi stand.

In short: how this list is made. We searched Google Hotels for every Pahalgam stay we could find, kept the ones with a real address, at least 100 reviews and a rate we could find online, and ranked them with one rule applied to all. We price one fixed night, Tuesday 15 December 2026, so every hotel is compared like for like. The full method is at the end of this page.

Which Pahalgam hotel should you book?

Pick by what matters to you. Each pick below follows a simple rule, stated beside it, so you can see why it is there.

• Top of our ranking, and the luxury pick: Welcomhotel by ITC Hotels, Pine N Peak. Rated 4.8 from 2,756 reviews, 1.6 km from the taxi stand, from ₹29,500 for 15 December. It is also the best rated of the hotels listed as 5-star. Rule: highest score on our ranking.
• Best value in the top 10: Fiza Guest House. The lowest December rate among our top 10, from ₹1,554, rated 4.8 from 517 reviews. Rule: cheapest of the ten.
• In the main market: Ahmed Resorts. Rated 4.8 from 158 reviews, 0.6 km from the taxi stand, from ₹3,188. Rule: best rated within 1 km of the taxi stand with a December rate.
• Cheapest in Pahalgam: New Relax Inn. From ₹1,081, the lowest December rate among stays with at least 100 reviews, rated 4.9 from 215 reviews. Rule: lowest rate within 5 km of the taxi stand.
• Before Pahalgam, by the river: Twin Towers by DeFoy. In the lower Lidder valley, 10.7 km before the town, rated 4.9 from 683 reviews, from ₹4,906. Rule: best rated of the lower-valley stays with a December rate.
• In Aru: Aru Heights. Rated 4.9 from 304 reviews; no online rate for 15 December. Rule: best rated stay in Aru. Aru is usually cut off by snow from January to early March.
• For a family or group: the JKTDC huts. Government-run huts with one, two or four bedrooms, a short walk from the market; guests mention kitchenettes. MakeMyTrip showed a hut at ₹2,736 for 20 October when we checked, and nothing for 15 December. Rule: the only multi-bedroom huts we found.

Where to stay in Pahalgam: town, Laripora, the lower valley or Aru

Stay in or near the town if you want to see Aru, Betaab Valley and Chandanwari. Your Srinagar taxi cannot take you to those; only Pahalgam Taxi Union cars can, and they leave from the taxi stand in the main market. Stays sold as "Pahalgam" fall into four areas.

Union taxis run from about 7 am to 5 pm, and the last sightseeing trips leave around 1 pm. If you stay in the lower valley, allow for the drive up to the stand before that.

Pahalgam hotels in winter

Pahalgam stays open through the winter, and it is quiet and snowy from about December to February. When we checked on 30 September 2026, 43 of the 104 well-reviewed stays we track within 5 km of the taxi stand showed an online rate for 15 December 2026, against 66 for 20 October. A hotel with no December rate may be closed for winter, or may simply not have opened those dates to booking sites, so phone before you plan around it.

Pahalgam hotel prices in October, November and December

For a typical Pahalgam hotel the October, November and December nights cost about the same, though 36 of 77 were cheaper in October. We checked the same stays for one Tuesday night in each month, all on 30 September 2026. Of the 231 Pahalgam-area stays we track, 77 showed a rate for all three nights.

"No rate" means no booking site showed a public rate for that night when we checked. It does not always mean the hotel is full or closed; some hotels sell rooms only by phone or through their own site.

Why we price 15 December: snow is common in Pahalgam from December, and a Tuesday in mid-December falls inside the snow season but before Christmas week. It shows a normal winter price without the holiday peak, and using one night for every hotel is what makes the prices comparable.

When to book, and what waiting costs

Book early and choose a rate with free cancellation where you can. The prices on this page are what you pay if you plan ahead.

• New Year fills up: on 27 December 2025 the news agency IANS reported that hotels in Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam were at full occupancy for the New Year.
• Christmas week: of the 70 stays that showed a rate for both nights, 20 were already more expensive for 26 December than for 15 December when we checked on 30 September 2026, typically by about 12%. Three were cheaper. The rest had not changed their Christmas prices.
• The Amarnath Yatra weeks: in July and August Pahalgam is a base for the yatra, with heavy traffic and busy hotels. Book well ahead for those weeks.

We re-check these rates through the season and keep the earlier figures, so each table will show what the same night cost when it was checked before.

These stays are also within 5 km of the taxi stand but sit outside our top 10, some only because no booking site showed a rate for them. We found 104 stays here with at least 100 reviews; these are the 15 best rated after the top 10.

Resorts before Pahalgam: Langanbal, Movera and the Rafting Point

Many resorts with "Pahalgam" in the name are 4 to 12 km before the town, along the Lidder on the road from Anantnag. They are often newer and by the river, and some are very well reviewed. We found 111 with at least 100 reviews; the 15 best rated are below.

From here you drive to the town for the market and the union taxis, so count that into each day.

Stays in Aru

Aru is a village and a string of meadows at 2,414 m, about 12 km up the West Lidder, and the base for the Kolahoi Glacier and Tarsar Marsar treks. Stays here are small guest houses and resorts.

5-star, 4-star and 3-star hotels in Pahalgam

Star classes below are the ones shown on each hotel's Google listing, so treat them as a guide rather than an official grading.

• 5-star: Welcomhotel by ITC Hotels, Pine N Peak and Mountnoor Sarovar Premiere.
• 4-star, in and around the town: The Hermitage By Grand Resorts, The Riviera Hotel, Pahalgam Resorts, Radisson Golf Resort, Island Resort, Fortune Pahalgam, Royal Grandiose, Hotel Heevan, Hotel Pine Spring, Hotel Noor Mahal, Paradise Inn.
• 4-star, in the lower valley: Kolahoi Green Resort, Hotel Sparrow, Eden Resorts and Spa, Lidder Resorts, Srichan Resorts.
• 3-star, in and around the town: The Pahalgam Pines by Sarwar Resorts, Hotel Royal Spring, Lidder Palace, Summer Palace Inn, The River Edge, Hotel Little Silver, Chinar Palace, Hotel Fifth Season, Pine View Resort, Hotel Betab Palace, Hotel Indian Palace, Hotel Grand Akbar.

Many well-reviewed guest houses show no star class at all. A missing class says nothing about quality; it only means the listing does not state one.

JKTDC huts, the Pahalgam Club and the Yatri Niwas

The J&K Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC), the government tourism company, lists five properties in Pahalgam: the Pahalgam Club and Convention Centre, Hotel Alpine, the Pahalgam Resort, a Yatri Niwas and the Aru Resort. It also lists huts with one, two and four bedrooms, in Deluxe and Super Deluxe categories.

What to ask a Pahalgam hotel before you book in winter

In a Kashmir winter the room matters more than the view. Listings almost never answer these, so ask by phone or message and keep the reply.

How we find, rank and price these hotels

This section is the full method, so you can judge how far to trust the lists above.

• Where the list comes from: we searched Google Hotels for Pahalgam in every way we could think of (by property type, star class and neighbourhood), added the names listed on Booking.com and MakeMyTrip, and then searched around each hotel already found, which brings up its neighbours, until new searches stopped turning up well-reviewed stays.
• What we kept: stays within 20 km of the Pahalgam taxi stand with a real address or website and a rating or a price. We left out whole-house rentals and merged duplicates. We track 231 stays, 223 of them with at least 100 Google reviews. This page lists 50: the top 10, the next best rated in each area, and the government properties.
• Ranking: each stay's Google rating is adjusted for its number of reviews: a stay needs about 200 reviews before its own rating counts for more than the Pahalgam average of 4.5. The top 10 is drawn from stays within 5 km of the taxi stand that showed an online rate on at least one of the four nights we checked, so each can be priced and booked from home; well-rated stays with no online rate are in the longer list. For the top 10, that adjusted rating is 85% of the score and distance to the taxi stand is 15%: full marks within 1 km, a little less up to 2 km and 5 km. Distance counts for less here than in our Gulmarg guide, because everything in and around the town is a short drive. The other lists are ordered by the adjusted rating alone. Price is never part of a ranking, because it changes daily.
• Price: the lowest public rate any booking site showed on Google Hotels for two adults for one night, taxes included. Member-only and sign-in rates are left out, and so is any "rate" under ₹600, which is a listing error rather than a room. All rates on this page were read on 30 September 2026.
• Distance: a straight line from the hotel's map position to the Pahalgam taxi stand in the main market. By road it is further, especially for the lower valley and Aru.
• What we could not check: heating, power backup and hot water. Listings rarely state them, so we do not rank on them; ask the hotel. We have also not stayed in these hotels ourselves, and we say so rather than pretend.
• What the ranking is not: it is not a list of every hotel in Pahalgam. It covers the 223 stays we found with at least 100 reviews. A stay we never found cannot appear, and a Google rating can be pushed up by a hotel that asks every guest for a review, so read a few recent reviews before you pay.
• Updates: we re-check ratings and rates through the season. Every table shows the date it was last checked, and earlier prices are kept so you can see how a rate has moved.
